In 1925, professional football is struggling to find its footing. Jimmy "Dodge" Connelly (George Clooney), a charismatic player and captain of the Duluth Bulldogs, is determined to save his team and the sport itself. He recruits Carter "The Bullet" Rutherford (John Krasinski), a war hero and college football star, to join the Bulldogs and help bring excitement back to the game. With Carter's arrival, the team's fortunes begin to change, but a tenacious reporter named Lexie Littleton (Renée Zellweger) is determined to uncover the truth behind Carter's war hero status. As the season heats up and the team's popularity grows, Dodge finds himself in a love triangle with Lexie and Carter, all while trying to keep his team on top. Will the Bulldogs be able to overcome the challenges they face both on and off the field?
