What’s most exciting about Lamb, the first Ethiopian film to play at Cannes (it appears in the Un Certain Regard section), is that it is an ethnographic film made entirely from the inside out.

Lamb tells the story of a young Ethiopian boy named Ephraim who embarks on a journey to save his beloved lamb, Chuni, from being sacrificed for a religious feast. Ephraim's father has left him with distant relatives, where he struggles to adjust and finds comfort in his friendship with Chuni.
