Burt Reynolds is at his amiable best in this rollicking tribute to the daring stuntmen and stuntwomen who risk their lives for movie magic. He stars as Sonny Hooper, a veteran stuntman at the top of his industry whose body is finally beginning to feel the effects of his long and very successful career. When he’s challenged by a charismatic younger rival (Jan-Michael Vincent), Hooper resolves to prove he’s still the best by attempting the most spectacular and dangerous stunt of his career.
