What is Great Freedom about? Toggle content

In post-WWII Germany, Hans, a gay man, is repeatedly imprisoned under Paragraph 175, a law criminalizing homosexuality. Despite the harsh conditions, he develops an unlikely bond with his cellmate Viktor, a convicted murderer. Over the decades, their relationship evolves from initial repulsion to a deep and meaningful connection. Great Freedom is a powerful and emotional portrayal of two men's quest for freedom and love in a society that rejects them.
