Friday is a 1995 American stoner comedy film directed by F. Gary Gray and written by Ice Cube and DJ Pooh. The movie follows the story of Craig Jones (played by Ice Cube), a recently fired slacker who spends a Friday smoking marijuana with his best friend Smokey (played by Chris Tucker) in South Central Los Angeles. When Smokey accidentally involves Craig in a drug deal gone wrong, they are forced to come up with $200 to pay off their debt to the drug supplier Big Worm before 10:00 PM that evening, or face dire consequences. The movie features cameos from notable actors such as LaWanda Page and Michael Clarke Duncan, as well as rap musician WC as a drive-by shooter working for Big Worm. With its humor rooted in the absurdity of everyday life in South Central Los Angeles, Friday has become a cult classic and is often cited as one of the best stoner movies of all time.
