Chi-Raq

In a contemporary adaptation of Aristophanes' ancient Greek play "Lysistrata," a group of women in a Chicago Southside neighborhood band together to challenge the ongoing violence and crime in their community. Fed up with the constant shootouts, arson attacks, and gang warfare, Lysistrata leads a movement to withhold sexual favors from their partners until peace is restored. As the women unite and take a stand, they challenge traditional notions of race, sex, and violence in America and around the world. This provocative film explores themes of power, gender, and the human cost of violence, all set to an electric hip-hop soundtrack.
